Saadani National Parks
Saadani National Park is a unique paradise where beach meets wilderness. You can go from safari to Indian Ocean in minutes and witness a diverse display of flora and fauna. Saadani’s name has deep historical significance dating back centuries when it was a trade centre coordinating slave trade. It became a National Park in 2005 and now covers 1,100sqkm of area.
The Park experiences an Eastern African coastal climate with bimodal rainfall, which ranges 800 – 1200mm annually. Long rains fall from March to June and short ones from October to December. February and July are the best driest months with peak temperatures reaching up to 29C. The best period for visits is the dry season, although the Park remains attractive year-round.
Dry season (June – September) and wet season (November – March) when wild flowers are flourishing and plentiful of butterflies. For bird watchers, December – February is their best time as most migratory birds are nesting in the park.
